13 novembre Two Week NoticeI turned my two week notice in today. It was a difficult decision for me to make, when I decided to leave the company I had worked for, for the past 8 years. I have work in one way or another for my current company for a long time, especially when you consider that the job lifespan in IT is relatively short. In that time, I've developed great relationships with all of the customers that went beyond business relationships - to personal ones. I played in Jim from Shelving Inc.'s, bi-weekly poker game and traded DVD's with Nick. I often went to many of the customers homes and worked on personal computer problems - 'off the clock.' I drank and ate, talked and joked with a majority of our clients; and customer relations was never my job duty. I am simply an I.T. integrator, a computer network guy, the tech.
Out of the blue I had received a phone call from an old client - and since they haven't done any business with our company in the past year, they weren't violating any previous agreements when they offered me a position with their company. I mulled the offer over for a couple of weeks before I finally decided to accept and now I am very excited about this opportunity and at the same time feel an incredible amount of guilt for leaving my current employer. To be honest with you I didn't expect it to be this hard.
But, I did it - today I turned in my two week notice.
